Main Focus:

 

  1. Mom-to-Mom Support; a) Confidential Phone Support from mothers that survived PPD and have been trained to help. The phone line is open Monday through Friday 9am-7pm and calls are returned within 24 hours. b) Build Your Village Support Groups for mothers suffering from postpartum adjustment difficulties. c) Clinical Services for families struggling with Perinatal Mood Disorders from experts in the field. At this time, PRC offers therapy for individuals, couples and families at risk for or experienceing Perinatal Mood Disorders. d) Education & Support for Survivors Who Give Birth is a program targeted at pergnant women, who have survived physical or sexual abuse, and their families. Every woman deserves to have control over her body ALL the time - even during birth! Beginning in Spring 2010, this program - a childbirth education course, doula support and mental health care - will help survivors navigate the complicated birth world, to plan a happy, healthy birth. 
  2. Resources for Recovery; a) PRC of Kansas educates and trains hundereds of professionals throughout Kansas and Missouri, every year. Because of these connections, we are able to offer several resources to help you through recovery. Call 913-677-1300 or 866-363-1300 for information. Or email Jen Stoll, Executive Director, at jen@kansasppd.org. b) Participant-led research projects begin in fall of 2009, answering these research questions: How does the public perceive a woman, man or family struggling with Perinatal Mood Disorders? and What are parents' experiences with NICUs? and Does postpartum Doula support prevent mood disorders in parents of NICU babies?
  3. Provider Education; a) Case Consultation allows for providers one-on-one consultation with experts in Perinatal Mood Disorders. Experts will guide providers through diagnosis and treatment planning over the course of 60-minute session. (This service is also available for attorneys seeking expertise in Perinatal Mood Disorders). b) Lunch & Learns at clinics and hospitals throughout Kansas and Northwest Missouri. These 45 minute forums include An Introduction to Perinatal Mood Disorders; How to Screen and Refer Patients for Treatment; and Safe PMD Treatment for Pregnant and Lactating Women. CEUs and CNEs available. c) Quarterly Webinars thoroughly explore a different topic, each quarter. This format allows providers from all geographic regions to participate, from their own office or home. CEUs and CNEs available.
